Special Cargo by AIR
If you have an oversized cargo or one that requires fast delivery to some places which do not have a regular cargo flight schedule, we can organize such a shipments. This is both the fastest and most expensive method of transport. Ask our air shipment specialist for rates.
Before you call or request a quote online, you will need to know the dimensions and weight of your shipment as well as the commodity. Due to size of cargo and specific needs the usual formula for calculating the rate based on actual & chargeable weight, may not be implemented.
Shipping vehicles
When you are in rush you can ship your automobile by air. It is more costly than shipping by ocean, but you can be certain that your vehicle will get there on time.
When shipping by air, we count volume in m3 and determine the rate. Knowing exact dimensions and weight for any particular vehicle is essential to get an accurate rate. The air carriers apply special rate for shipping the cars, no matter what is the actual or chargeable weight (carriers categorize vehicles in groups and charge a rate for 5,000 kg for example, no matter what is the actual weight of your car). When you ship your vehicle by air you cannot put any belongings inside the vehicle. It is strongly prohibited.
When shipping by air, automobiles are handled as dangerous goods under the class UN3166, so DG documentation has to be prepared by the freight forwarder.
The process of preparing the paperwork for export is the same as shipping any self-propelled vehicle by any other type of transport except for the necessity of issuing a DG declaration. The basic rule that would apply to vehicles is that the gas tank should be almost empty (not more than 1⁄4 of tank). To learn more about shipping the vehicles, please read page “shipping vehicles by air” on our web site.
Shipping DG Cargo
Some dangerous goods are too dangerous to be carried by aircraft under any circumstances. Any article or substance which, as presented for transport, is liable to explode, dangerously react, produce a flame or dangerous evolution of heat or dangerous emission of toxic, corrosive or flammable gasses or vapors under conditions normally encountered in transport must not be carried on aircraft under any circumstance. The others may be carried on cargo aircraft only and some are acceptable on both cargo and passenger aircraft.
To determine properly in which category your shipment is classified, you need to know your cargo. The first step is to obtain MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) of your product. You can get it either from the manufacturer or distributer. Every MSDS document contains transportation section in which you can find information about DG classification of your product ( Class 1 – 9, Packing Group I, II & III, proper identification, packing and transport requirements ). To learn more about shipping the vehicles, please read page “shipping hazardous cargo by air” on our web site.
Export Documentation Requirements
In order to ship your items you must fill out the forms online or download a copy (click on forms button on the left) and send it to us. Be sure that you know the nature of product you ship and that your cargo does not considers as Dangerous Cargo or need some other special handling ( oversized cargo, dry ice etc.). You will need to have the following information handy:
1. Power of Attorney to Aqua Air to prepare export documentation
2. Packing List with Invoice / Listed Value
If your cargo has a value of more than $2,500.00 we need to declare the shipment with U.S. Customs and the U.S. Department of Commerce.
